At Baltex, we strive not only to make aesthetically high-quality products, but also to consciously deal with materials. Our lamp collection, Baltex Lighting, is a perfect example of how we give residual materials a new life and thus continue to close our product chain. This method enables us to create unique, sustainable interior products with a story that goes beyond design.

From Blind to Lamp: The Road from Waste to Refinement

In our studio in Amsterdam we carefully produce wooden woven blinds. These blinds are made from high-quality fabrics, some of which are imported from France. When we cut the blinds to size, we are left with leftover materials – pieces of fabric and wood that are too small for new blinds, but still of excellent quality. Instead of throwing these leftover materials away, we use them creatively in our Baltex Lighting collection. This creates a collection in which every detail contributes to a closed product cycle and a sustainable interior.

The San Collection: An Artistic Application of Wood and Concrete

One of the most unique aspects of our Baltex Lighting collection is the way we indirectly apply wooden weaves to create the base of the San lamps. By using wooden weaves to line the mold for the concrete base, a refined texture is created that forms the basis for these lamps. The result is a subtle imprint of the weave in the concrete, adding an artistic detail reminiscent of brutalism in architecture – a style where wooden formwork often leaves a unique pattern in concrete surfaces. This transition from the weave in the shade to the base of the lamp creates a harmonious design that combines sustainability and craftsmanship.

Creative Reuse in Every Detail

The reuse of materials in our Baltex Lighting collection goes beyond practical considerations; it is a source of inspiration. Working with existing materials creates a creative challenge that leads to refined designs with a timeless look. Every scrap of wood or fabric is given a new function, which not only prevents waste but also emphasizes the unique beauty of each material.

A Conscious Choice for Sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability not only means that we produce less waste, but also that we make conscious choices in the design and manufacturing process. We choose materials that last a long time and that retain their value, even in their second life. In this way, we contribute to an interior that is not only beautiful to look at, but also made in a responsible way.

With Baltex Lighting, you are not only bringing a stylish, handmade product into your home; you are also choosing a sustainable interior that is manufactured with respect for materials and craftsmanship. Our products are designed to bring both aesthetics and awareness into your living space – a new story every time you turn on the light.
